Greetings From Charleston County Auditor Peggy A. Moseley, C.M.

Hello, and welcome to the Web site created with you in mind. Goals for this site are:
  • To make it easier for individuals and professionals to access public property tax records.
  • To take the state's complicated property tax system and try to make it easier to understand for Web site users.
To that end, you will find a section for researching property tax records including real estate records, motor vehicle records, watercraft records, and business and manufacturing personal property records. You will also find areas dedicated to answering frequently asked questions (FAQs) about different types of property taxes and you will learn exactly how to read a tax bill.

If this is your first visit to our website, I hope that you will find the information to be both enlightening and easy to access. If you are a returning, or even a frequent, user of this site, I hope that web access has succeeded in making it easier to obtain the information you need. Please make use of the contacts section on this site to let me know how we can make it work better for you.

As I told you when you first elected me to serve as your auditor back in 1992, my primary objective is to ensure that the Charleston County Auditor's office always puts the taxpayer first. This website makes public information readily available to everyone within the reach of a personal computer and a modem - information which was previously available only to those who could physically visit the various offices in the Tax System. We believe you will agree that this is a major step in the right direction.
